Field dropdown details
Administrators can customise how items appear in the dropdown menu of an Advanced Link field. This helps users quickly distinguish between similar options by showing the most relevant details — directly in the selection menu.
What is always shown
Each work item option will always display:
The work item icon
The summary
These elements cannot be removed.
Configuration
Fields to show
To configure go to link configuration page → Fields select tab.
Use the Fields to show multi-select to define which additional custom fields should appear in the dropdown menu for each option.
Show recently visited work items
This checkbox, when enabled, prioritises recently viewed work items for the current user, placing them at the top of the dropdown.
⚠️ Note: This setting is only available if none of the following field types are selected in Fields to show: number, single-line text, single-choice select.
Show avatar in the dialog
Enable this checkbox to display the item avatar in the item lookup dialog (accessed via the 🔍 icon next to the Advanced Link field). If the linked work item includes an avatar, it will be shown visually in the selection panel.
Use case: Selecting the right laptop from inventory
Imagine a support agent is creating a ticket for assigning a laptop to a new employee. The organisation has multiple devices named MacBook Pro 14” — all with identical summaries. To choose the right device, the agent needs to see:
RAM size
Disk capacity
By configuring the Field to show field to dispaly these fields in the dropdown, the agent can differentiate each laptop immediately — without needing to open each item in a separate tab.
