Limitations of storing Advanced Links in default links

The following behaviour applies when an Advanced Links field is configured with a Storage link type (Advanced Links are synchronised with standard Jira issue links) and users create links through the default Link work item panel rather than the Advanced Links panel.

Issues outside the selectable scope

If a user links an issue via the default Link work item panel and the linked issue is outside the selectable issues scope configured for the Advanced Links field:

• The issue is initially displayed as linked in the standard Link work item section.

• After the page is refreshed, the link is removed because it does not match the Advanced Links configuration.

Maximum selection limit

If a user creates multiple standard default work item links at once and the total number of linked work items exceeds the Maximum selection configured for the Advanced Links field, then:

• Only links up to the configured maximum are retained.

• Since link requests are processed asynchronously, it is not possible to predict which specific links will be retained when the maximum selection limit is exceeded.

• Any links exceeding the configured limit are removed after the next page refresh.
