Sidebar Navigation
Sidebar Navigation adds your custom menus to the Confluence sidebar. It's how your Browser extension menu reaches users: they install the STAGIL browser extension, and their sidebar shows the navigation you've built.
The extension is available for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox.
How it works
Once a user installs the extension, it runs automatically each time they open Confluence, and the sidebar shows your configured menus alongside the standard Confluence items.
To build what appears here, create a Browser extension menu. See Configure navigation menus.
What users see
With the extension installed, the sidebar shows:
Your custom menus, folders, and sub-menus, as configured.
The standard Confluence items, such as Spaces, Apps, and Home.
Users can hide or reorder items through Confluence's own sidebar controls, the same way they would without the app. Those choices affect your items too. For how that interacts with the visibility you set, see Visibility and permissions.
Without the extension
Users who don't have the extension see the standard Confluence sidebar. Your Browser extension menu doesn't appear for them, but they can still reach your site navigation through Advanced Navigation, which needs no extension.
If the extension is installed but can't connect, the sidebar falls back to the standard Confluence items rather than waiting. Users won't see your custom navigation until the connection recovers, but the sidebar stays usable.
