What is Top Navigation

Top Navigation shows your Site panel menu as a bar at the top of every page, so your custom navigation is always visible. It runs natively, with no browser extension required.

Where it appears

The bar shows on most Confluence pages, including home pages, landing pages, and regular content pages. It doesn't appear on administration pages, whiteboards, or databases.

Turn it on

Top Navigation is controlled by Enable always-visible navigation on the Navigation menus page.

  1. Go to Confluence administration → Settings → STAGIL Navigation → Navigation menus.

  2. Turn on Enable always-visible navigation.

  3. Your users see the bar straight away. Turn the toggle off to hide the bar, which gives users the Open advanced navigation button instead. See Advanced Navigation.

Expanded Top Navigation menus

Top Navigation is your Site panel menu, shown as a permanent horizontal bar below Confluence's own top navigation. It stays visible as users move around the site.

The bar has three levels: the always-visible bar itself, a level that expands when a user selects an item, and a further level below that. Only menus you configure in the app appear. System menus don't.

To build what appears here, see Configure navigation menus.
