Tooltip context configuration

This page defines configuration steps when a specific tooltip text is required for different projects of the same custom field.

To create a distinct tooltip for a particular project, administrators can use Jira’s field configuration. For this, the custom field should be included in two (or more) field configurations. And then, each project should be assigned the correct field configuration.

For each new project that requires a specific tooltip text, a separate field configuration needs to be created.

How to create a tooltip via field configuration

Follow these steps:

1. Go to Project Settings → Fields.

2. Click the Edit icon on the required field configuration.

3. Find the necessary field and select Edit in the field Actions menu.

4. Enter the tooltip text into the Description field.
