Hide 'Comment' field

Overview

Jira's default comment field is a vital tool for team communication, allowing users to discuss issues, provide updates, and collaborate seamlessly. However, this field can sometimes clutter the screen, especially on issue creation, editing, or transition screens, disrupting an otherwise carefully crafted layout.

The Hide Comment feature in STAGIL Navigation for Jira provides an elegant solution. It enables admins to hide the default comment field on specific screens, resulting in a cleaner and more organized interface.

How It Works

Step 1: Create a Custom Field

  • An admin must create a custom field of the specific type: ‘Hide Comment’. No further configuration is needed after creation.

Step 2: Add the Custom Field to a Screen

  • Once the custom field is created, it should be added to the screen where you want to conceal the default comment field.

Step 3: Conceal the Default Comment Field

  • After adding the ‘Hide Comment’ custom field to the desired screen, the default comment field will automatically be hidden, creating a more streamlined and tidy issue view.

Example

The example below illustrates a workflow transition screen setup named 'Resolve - Screen':
