Create and manage Teams
You can open the Teams management page by selecting the “Teams” item from the left sidebar. Here you can easily create and manage your Teams.
Permissions
Permission to manage Teams: Users who have the “Permission to manage Teams” app permission will be able to create, edit, archive or delete teams.
By default, the Teams page can be opened by any user and every team information is visible for them.
Team Leader: Team Leaders will be able to modify team information and team member, even when they don’t have the “Permission to manage Teams” global app permission. However, Team Leaders cannot remove them or change the lead position.
There are three separate tabs on the team page:
Active: Here, all teams will be listed that are selectable in the teams picker and assignable to worklogs. These teams can be used for reporting, which means these are available as filter options, columns, or group by options on the Reports page.
Archived: Here, all teams will be listed that are not selectable in the team picker and are not assignable to worklogs. These teams can also be used when creating a report.
All: All teams will be listed here, active and archived as well.
Creating teams
To create a new team, click on the “Add Team” button in the upper right corner and provide the following:
Team name (required): The team name will be visible to the users when creating a worklog or a report.
Team Lead (required): Team Leaders will be able to modify team information and team member, even when they don’t have the “Permission to manage Teams” global app permission.
Description (optional): The team’s description provides more info about its use.
Projects: The default selected team can also be configured per project. When creating a new worklog, if the user is a member of multiple teams, the team will be preselected based on the project of the issue the work is logged against.
Managing Team Members
Users with the appropriate permissions, as well as Team Leaders, can add or remove members from existing teams using the team management dialog.
For each team member, an optional text-based Role can be assigned to describe their responsibility within the team.
Managing teams
You can do the following actions with the existing teams in the list:
Edit: Update team name, team leader, description and members.
Archive: Archived teams are not selectable in the team picker but remain reportable. The archive works well if an team is still relevant in reports, but you don’t want to use it for new worklogs.
Delete: Delete the team permanently. An team won’t be selectable for worklogs or for report filters and it will be removed from every worklog in Jira.
