Summary
The new Summary Report replaces both the previous Summary and Chart reports.
The Summary Report introduces a redesigned experience for exploring logged time data in a structured, hierarchical table, with rolled-up total values available at every level of the hierarchy.
You can build fully customized hierarchies using any Jira entity (such as initiatives, epics, or issues), Jira system fields, or custom fields, and enhance your reports by adding additional cumulative columns tailored to your analysis needs.
Alongside the table view, the Summary Report also offers interactive visualizations through pie and bar charts that are dynamically generated from the configured hierarchy. These charts support drill-down interactions, allowing you to navigate through hierarchy levels and analyze your data in greater depth.
How to Access the Summary Report
Go to the "Reports" section of the app.
Select the "Summary" option.
How to Use the Summary Report
Group by Fields
Grouping Data: Easily group your data by fields or custom fields using the Group By picker. Search for and select the desired fields.
Removing Grouping Levels: To remove a level of grouping, click "Group by," then click the "x" next to the specified group level. The removed level will appear as an additional column in the summary grid.
Reordering Hierarchy: Reorder the hierarchy by dragging and dropping the group by fields.
Resizing columns: You can easily resize any group or additional column in your report, giving you more control over how your data is displayed.
Expand/Collapse: Expand or collapse each hierarchy level as needed, and sort by any of them for a more organized view.
Change report type: Change the display of the data to table or chart using the “View” option.
Table Summary Report
The Summary table report can be used just like the Timesheet view without additional period cells.
Additional Columns
Adding Columns: Search and add more cumulative fields or custom fields as columns to your report. These columns will be displayed on the summary grid, next to the total column, and will be summed up to the levels.
Promoting to Grouping Levels: Click the "V" icon next to the column name and select "Add to Grouping" to promote columns to group by levels.
Removing Columns: Click the "V" icon next to the column name and select "Hide columns" to remove a column.
Export Table Summary
You can export your search results to an Excel or CSV file. The export duration and time format will match what appears on the reports.
You can export your summary with grouping, or without grouping in a flat structure.
Please be aware of that the total number of characters that a cell can contain in Excel is 32,767 characters. If one of the entries exceeds the number of characters, it will be truncated.
Chart Summary Report
Chart type: You can display the summarized data in a Bar chart or Pie chart.
For both Pie and Bar charts, the chart will initially display the top-level element of the hierarchy selected in the Group By settings.
You can drill down through the hierarchy by clicking on individual elements, exploring data at deeper levels while maintaining the context of the overall structure.
Options
The displayed data can be managed and extended under the Options menu:
Sort by: Choose to sort data by Name or Value.
Mode (Bar chart only):
Total: Each bar shows the percentage relative to the overall logged time returned by the report for the selected period. This allows you to see how much each item contributes to the total across all hierarchy levels.
Group: Each bar shows the percentage relative to other items at the same hierarchy level. This means the percentages reflect the distribution within the current group, not compared to the top-level total.
Scale (Bar chart only):
Auto: Bars are automatically scaled to fit the canvas in a compact layout.
Full: Bars are displayed using the full canvas width (up to 100%), giving a clearer view of absolute proportions.
Markers (Bar chart only): Show additional markers indicating total values on the bars.
Visuals:
Display the index of each bar or pie slice.
Display the total logged value directly on the bar or pie slice.
