Just like any other custom field the Advanced Links are supported on issue edit screens.

However, when a field contains more than 100 linked issues, it can negatively impact Jira’s overall performance. To address this, we’ve introduced an optional optimization setting that reduces performance strain while editing issues.

How It Works

A setting is available in the Field Select tab of the link field configuration. Administrators will find a checkbox labeled ‘Allow selecting 100 or more issues at a time (Performance might be decreased)’

By default, this setting is disabled, meaning optimization is active.

Here’s how it affects field behaviour:

(tick) Optimization Enabled (Default):

  • The Advanced Link field will not display linked issue results on the edit screen.

  • The field becomes uneditable to prevent performance issues.

(error) Optimization Disabled (Checkbox Enabled):

  • The field functions as usual, allowing users to select and display over 100 linked issues.

  • Performance may be affected depending on the number of linked issues.
