Data logic is a part of advanced link field configuration. It allows administrators to control which assets are visible in an advanced link dropdown, as well as other aspects of the linking process.

To start data logic configuration:

  1. Go to the Advanced Links configuration page.

  2. Select the outward or inward field of a required advanced link.

  3. Select ‘Edit Advanced Link Field’ to open the ‘Data Logic’ tab.

JQL search

Apply additional filtering for the advanced links dropdown using a JQL query.

(info) Queries with ‘currentUser()’ functions are run from a currently logged-in user, regardless of the ‘Searching User’ configuration.

Searching user

A user on whose behalf a JQL query from above is run. The same user’s permissions extend further on browsing issues in the field’s dropdown or linking issues, including the advanced link field in the Customer Portal.

(star) For Advanced Links that are based on default links, an additional searching user configuration is available:

  • Perform link/unlink action with searching user

When checked out, this feature deprives the user of an option to link issues via the default Jira links.

The link button of the default link field becomes inactive.

Maximum Selection

The maximum number of issues that can be selected in the Advanced Link field in a single issue view.

Add new

Users have the option to create issues via an Advanced link panel. This feature allows predefining the project and issue type new issues.

Out-of-Scope Strategy

If the linked issue no longer fits the JQL’s scope it advanced link field can be automatically updated and the issue unlinked when the field is updated next (select ‘Remove on next update’). Another strategy option ('Keep until it is actively removed') keeps the field updates manual.
