3.0.62 update - Admin Guidelines

In this update, we have integrated two previously distinct features - Issue Templates and Create & link buttons - into one convenient feature. This integration allows for a smoother and more streamlined user experience, making it easier and quicker to configure and access issue templates. On this page, we'll explain the changes that have been implemented.

Create & link button configuration

Before: Button configuration was managed through a tab in Jira’s app administration.

Now: A C&L button no longer requires a separate configuration. Buttons are integrated and tied with specific templates. See this chapter for details.

Create & link button field values

Before: Each button required a separate field configuration.

Now: Buttons are representations of the templates they are tied to. Therefore, field configuration is created and edited through the template configuration. Nonetheless, each button allows to configure of which fields will be inherited from the original issue and which can be configured manually. See this chapter for details.

Create & Link buttons: single and multi-create modes

Before: When selected for use, buttons could prompt a single or a multi-create screen. This could be set in an individual C&L configuration.

Now: The single and multi-create modes remained. Under the new logic, all buttons are set to create a single issue unless a multi-create option is checked off (see configuration here).

Upgrading existing buttons

After the update, the C&L buttons will still be available to users, as they will be migrated automatically into templates with the same title. These templates will also contain C&L buttons with the same configurations as the original ones. However, the context for all new templates will be set to global, meaning users may see some extra templates they haven't seen before.
