Space Navigation

Space Navigation lets Confluence admins create customized menu structures within specific spaces. By clicking an Advanced Navigation button in a space, users open an overlay that reveals up to three menu levels—helping teams surface relevant links, pages, and resources directly where they work.

Manage existing navigations

After creating a space navigation, you’ll see it listed on the Space Navigation page. Use the [···] menu next to each navigation to:

  • Edit (change name, categories, or spaces)

  • Manage (build or modify the menu structure)

  • Delete (permanently remove this navigation)

Build your menu

Under Manage, you can add three types of nested items:

  1. Sub-navigation – creates another expandable menu, that can contain links one level deep.

  2. Web link – links to an external site or resource.

  3. Internal link – links to a Confluence page or space.

Menu Depth

Level: Top-level items (e.g., “Strategy & Planning”)

Level: Sub-items under each top-level item (can be sub-navigation, web link, or internal link)

Level: Final layer (web link or internal link only)

End user view of configuration above:
