Editing an existing synchroniser

This page provides instructions on how to reconfigure an existing synchronizer without disrupting or compromising the current connection between pages and issues.

Once a synchroniser is established, issues in Jira are created to correspond with each page in a Confluence space. Subsequently, any modifications made to the page will be mirrored in the issue, and vice versa. The integrity of this relation is crucial, which is why the synchronizer's logic is not open to extensive reconfiguration. The Actions menu of the synchroniser, accessible through the [···] button, does include an Edit option that grants access to the Edit synchroniser dialogue:

The only configuration field available for editing in this dialogue is a .

This field serves a dual purpose: it acts as a link to a synchronized Confluence page in the issue view and aids in re-establishing connections between existing pages and issues if a synchronizer is removed. Deleting a synchronizer and creating a new one with adjusted settings is the only way to modify its configuration. This includes spaces, synchronization mode, project, issue types, and CQL condition. When the field is set, a new synchronizer can locate old issues and restore synchronization, ensuring the retention of the previously established connection.

To re-establish the issue-page link after deleting a synchronizer, follow these steps:

  1. Set the Page link field in the current synchronizer.

  2. Initiate a manual synchronization.

  3. Confirm that the field has a value in the issue view.
⚠️ Do not delete the synchronizer if the field in the issue view is empty. Without this setting, re-establishing the connection is impossible.

  4. Delete the existing synchronizer.

  5. Create a new synchronizer with the necessary adjustments in configuration. Before saving, ensure to configure the Page link field by selecting the same field used in the initial synchronizer.

  6. Save the new synchronizer.

This process results in the creation of a new synchronizer with the required settings while maintaining the page-issue connections.
